Third Day

Wes and I have been following Third Day almost since the band first started in 1993. We think we have seen them 10-12 times over the years, mostly in Colorado, but a few time in South Dakota. So when they announced their farewell tour this summer, we knew we would hopefully have one last chance to see the band. And we weren’t disappointed. Third Day scheduled their final show, not at home in Atlanta, but in Denver at the iconic Red Rocks. Somehow, amazingly, Wes scored not just VIP tickets, but the SUPER VIP experience, which included early entry to the venue, the sound check before the show with the band, a meet and great, a swag bag, and seats in the first 6 rows. Let the adventure begin!!

Once we got in, our seats were in the second row. We each got a poster, a messenger bag, and a shirt. Third Day played 4 songs, including “Love Song.” Wes was interviewed about what Third Day ment to him. I took pictures. Then it was time to use our backstage passes!

Kids

Managed to get one picture of all the kids together while Noah was home. They are getting older, that’s for sure. Also, I’m not sure why I’m the only guy in the family without a beard.

Ambassador

One of the many fun things I get to do with my job is being an Ambassador for the Greeley Chamber of Commerce. I get to attend ribbon cuttings for new businesses, work the check in table for Chamber events, and generally be a cheerleader for the Greeley community. This was the ribbon cutting for a local business yesterday.

Darius

Better know as Hootie, from Hootie and the Blowfish fame in the 1990’s, stopped in Greeley last night to perform as Darius Rucker. I know none of his county hits that he has been performing for the last 10 years or so, but when he sang “Let Her Cry”, “Hold my Hand” and even a cover of “No Diggity”, the night became awesome. What joy to dance and sing along with an artist who’s music made up an important part of my high school years! Sorry the pictures aren’t better.

Invite

It’s finally Weldwerks Invite time! When the event was announced way back in February, I knew it was going to be the can’t miss event of the month of June, possibly the summer. I was fortunate to be selected as one of the volunteers for the day. So I spent 8 hours downtown helping ticket, ID, check-in and  promote Greeley to all the visitors. Most importantly, I got to sample some amazingly rare beer from around the country. I served the first shift with Fremont Brewing from Seattle and the second shift with Boulevard Brewing from Kansas City. Even got to spend some time with Scribbs!

Tattoos

Getting matching tats! For Jens Mother’s Day present, Noah and Jen got matching owl tattoos! This would be Noah’s third and Jen’s first. Noah did great. Jen, well, I think the pictures capture her feelings. Way to be brave Jennifer!

Friday Night!

After wrapping up the BBQ, the fun wasn’t done yet. Some of us headed downtown for the grand opening of Tower 56, the newest craft distillery in town. It was great to spend some quality time with Kelly and Tom while Noah and Jen were busy with...

BBQ

For Noah and Leza’s last night in Greeey, we weee able to host a small evening gathering with his friends and ours. It was fun to see these kids that have finished their freshman year of college and are starting to make their way in the world. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hello and meet Leza.

Laramie

Noah and Leza are having a pretty great visit here in Colorado this week. Meeting Noah’s friends, seeing places around Greeley and the Front Range, and today a trip to Wyoming to meet Grandma Roth and see everything Laramie has to offer. Grandma bought lunch for them today at the new steakhouse! I’m excited to be home late tonight to spend some time with them!

Noah!

Noah’s home! And he brought a friend! Taking a quick trip back to Greeley this week between the end of his freshman year, and the start of summer classes next week. We are so thrilled and happy to have him back for a few days. Lots planed for him and Leza!

Hail!!

Holy hail Batman! Massive storm rolled through Greeley this afternoon a dropped a bit of hail in the area. Thankfully Jen and the kids were all home to get out the hail/water that had accumulated in the window well and leaked into the library. Sadly, I wasn’t available to help since I’m at the mothership in Lone Tree all week.

The 601

Noah has successfully completed his first year of college this week. Seems like just yesterday we were moving him into room 601 at Portland State. And now here he is saying goodbye to his first college roommate Marco, cleaning up, checking out and moving to his summer room before moving again in September to start his RA job in a different dorm. So proud of the kid and the great things he accomplished this school year. Looking forward to his visit back to Greeley this week with his girlfriend.

Dropkick

Dads get to have fun too! While Jen and D were trompsing around Europe and the Littles were on their way home, I joined a group of good friends on the Party Bus to go see Flogging Molly and the Dropkick Murphys. It was sweaty (98 in Denver that day), crowded (8000 people at the venue?) and loud (WHAT?). Also they only had either Guinness or PBR?? Oh well. It was still a great show. Didn’t make it on stage like I did 2 years ago, but Coach did.

In this edition of its a small world...the lady in from of me turned around and wouldn’t you know it; the maid of honor from our wedding: Jennifer Gram and her husband Mark and their two kids. How random! Haven’t seen her in like 20 years!

Next concert is Darius Rucker!
