Champions!

It was quite a celebration last Saturday in Colorado Springs at the state cross country meet. Frontier boys won state!! It is the first state championship that Frontier has ever won. Even though Noah didn't run, he and his teammates were there in force cheering the varsity squad onto victory. The entire team was honored on Monday at an all school assembly. Congrats to all the cross country runners who have been training hard almost everyday since last winter.

Colorado Rising

Not quite two weeks ago, a special concert for flood relief for our state was announced. Dave Matthews would be headlining the special evening entitled Colorado Rising. Other local bands that were scheduled to appear included The Fray, Big Head Todd and the Monsters and the Lumineers. The show sold out in 90 seconds. Guess who scored 2 tickets?

It was a pretty special night in Broomfield last night. The Fray only played four songs, but were joined on stage by a 10 year old named Teddy who played piano on "How to Save a Life." He turned out to be the son of Governor Hickenloper. Gov Hick, who is still rocking the crutches after his surgery, giggled like a schoolgirl while introducing Dave. Dave played a solid set of 9 songs, including a little John Denver and "You & Me."  Lumineers rocked "Ho Hey" and played a couple new songs for the crowd that was left. Jen and I left before Big Head Todd played. A great way to kick off Jens birth week celebration!

Me (Again)

Getting a lot of mileage out of this advertising campaign at UNC. This was spotted at Denver International Airport yesterday morning. Keep your eyes open people. I'm watching.

Ball/Dance

Friday night was the annual Frontier Elementary costume ball/dance. It is used as a fundraiser for the playground committee, and at $4 a person, they raised a ton. Lots of Duck Dynasty, superheroes, princesses and scary monsters of various sizes as shapes. Sarabeth got some more use out of her Cleopatra costume, Nathanael hammed it up as a hot dog and I choose to go the healthy route as a banana. Highlight of the evening was getting to hear "What Does the Fox Say" twice.

Cleopatra

Sarabeth has been busy the last several weeks preparing a presentation on Cleopatra for her 3rd grade class. While the class was studying Rome, her teacher asked a few students to present an extra report. Grandma Janet was very helpful while she was helping me heal from surgery, and made the headdress by hand. During the presentations, the third grade classes had a "picnic" of healthy snacks like grapes, cheese, crackers and veggies. Sarabeth did an outstanding job speaking in front of lots of classmates and parents!

Cookies!

Finally we have a holiday to decorate cookies for! It's been a long time since Easter. But now we have a holiday each month for the next 5 months or so to get together with Devin and Ashley and get all sugured up on her delicious homemade cookies. Kids had a blast piling on the toppings after a yummy dinner of chili and cornbread. What a treat!! Only 4 weeks until thanksgiving/fall cookies...

13

Happy birthday to you.
Happy birthday to you.
Happy birthday Little Andrew.
Happy birthday to you!!

We now officially have two teenagers here at the Roth household! For his birthday dinner tonight, he made a very high quality selection and we ended up at Red Lobster. Opened a few presents. He had his friend party last night. Four of his friends spent the night and ate pizza. Then about midnight, Andrew opened the presents he got from his friends. So there aren't any pictures from that.

Happy birthday Little D. Your mom and I love you so much and are so proud of you.

Me

Kind of like the NSA, I'm everywhere watching you. Heading north on I25 just past the Windsor exit? Yep, there I am keeping an eye on things. Maybe heading north on Highway 85? Correct, that's me too, always watching. How about opening your laptop at UNC and bringing up the homepage? There I am again, watching what you do on the internet. It's been pretty fun finding the new places the advertising campaign for UNC places Justin and I next. Keep your eyes open!!

Mrs. Roth

Pretty incredible woman she is. Other then helping her husband defeat cancer these last 19 months, here are a few of the things she has been up to: teaching Monday through Thursday to most of the 6th and 8th graders at Frontier. Middle school yearbook advisor. Credit Recovery teacher/lead administrator on Fridays from 8-noon or later. Middle school liaison to the Orgainization of Parents and Teachers (OPT). Middle school English department chairwoman. She also attends the monthly Frontier board of directors meetings to give voice to the middle school teachers and students. And who can forget all the grading an English teacher has to do on a weekly basis. Oh yeah, and she has four kids, two dogs and a turtle at home waiting for her in the evenings. Needless to say, she is a pretty incredible woman.

This is a photo of her in action last Thursday in her classroom at Frontier. Each fall, she sets her room up as a coffee house and serves drinks and fun breakfast snacks while the students each get a chance to read two of the poems they have written. It is always a huge hit with the kids, and allows parents to come in and experience Jens classroom and amazing teaching skills. As always, nice work babe. Very proud of you and all the different rolls you excel at everyday!

Broncos-Gametime

Even though the Broncos didn't cover the 28 point spread, a victory over Jacksonville was all that mattered. Our group had a great Sunday afternoon cheering on our team. The weather was perfect, the beer was cold, and Manning was throwing touchdowns. The play-offs can't start soon enough!

Broncos-pre game

The fun continued on Sunday, thanks to Travis and the opportunity to use his season tickets to the Broncos. Wes and I were joined by Sean and Big Andrew to watch the game with the largest point spread in NFL history: 28 points. Before the game, the team honored Todd Helton, the former backup of Peyton Manning at Tennessee and a pretty good baseball player for the Rockies. Then it was time for kick-off!
