Thankful

It was a pretty laid back Thanksgiving Day here in Grand Junction. We enjoyed a nice breakfast then went to work on prepping dinner. Jim did a fabulous job smoking the turkey. Janet and Jennifer worked well together preparing and serving the rest of the meal. The kids and I mostly stayed out of the way. My job would come later as I was in charge of dishes. During dinner, we all shared what we were thankful for over the past year. There were lots of laughs, a few tears, and many memories from the last 12 months. We also worked in a few card games, finished a puzzle, read a couple books and met some friends next door to play with. Thankful!

Bananas!

While Jen and Janet were grocery shopping and Noah and Jim were in Green River doing tech support, the kids and I ventured out to Bananas fun park and arcade. We played a killer round of mini golf that little Andrew won by 4 shits over Nathanael. Then we spent an hour or so in the arcade playing games and winning tickets. Kids ended up with a pretty good haul, including the giant inflatable hammers they can use to beat each other the rest of thanksgiving vacation.

Mile High-Press

The final three stops on the tour of Mile High Stadium were the press facilities and a suite. The first stop was the interview room next door to the closed, locked and under 24 hour a day surveillance Broncos locker room. I took a few questions from the assembled reporters then turned it over to Sarabeth. The next stop was the press box. Pretty nice digs!

The tour ended at a suite next door to the owners suite. For only $1000 a seat per game, the box could be ours. The math works out to about $325,000 per season. We signed up for one on the spot!

Mile High-Signs

As the song says, "Signs, signs, everywhere the signs." The tour first took us to the tunnel under the stadium and the visitors locker room. These are a few of the signs that are posted. The locker room is pretty sparse, with only the bare minimum allowed by NFL standards. Like the two ancient whirlpool tubs in the training room. Would you sit in either of those? And here is the sign that greets the team as they head to the field. Word has it that the sign was repainted in the off season so it was more visible and impossible for the visiting coaches to blog, like Bill Belichek did last year.

Mile High-Kids

While we were waiting in line to have the professional photographer take our picture, I was busy snapping away pictures of the kids. Pretty chilly afternoon at field level. We were pacing the same sidelines as the Broncos! Peyton Manning and Wes Welker have walked where we walked and stood where we stood. Can't wait to see how the pictures turned out!

Mile High-Field

Vacation has begun!! I know, I know. I already took 28 weeks off so far in 2013, and have only worked 3 weeks straight so far since my return. But it's time for vacation! We started off with a quick trip to Denver thanks to Living Social. The family Christmas picture will be a field level shot of the six of us with a special holiday message on the Jumbotron from the Broncos! We followed that up with a tour of the stadium. What a great start to the week off!

Cookies

Thanksgiving cookies?? Of course!! Enjoyed a really special evening on Friday with Devin and Ashley. Jen made her world famous calzones. Ashely brought the cookies and frosting. Devin and I mostly tried to stay out of the way. In honor of the Dr. Who season premiere, Sarabeth decorated two cookies to look like the Doctor and Amy Pond. Thanks again for the fun evening guys!
