Field Trip!

Had the privilege of escorting the 5th grade class today to the Denver Center for the Performing Arts to see the production of "Looking Glass Alice." It was a pretty incredible play. Sort of a mash up between a play and Circe de Solai. Highly recommend seeing it if you get a chance. We enjoyed a sack lunch under the "dancing aliens" as Mrs. Long calls the statue. And what would a trip to Denver be without a stop at VooDoo?? They were paying tribute to Yogi Berra today. With the job change in November, this might be one of the last field trips I will get to attend. Thankful for the chance today.

Tradition

At the end of every summer, I select only the best, most fun-filled pictures to create the annual summer collage. It is printed on a 24x36 poster and will hang above the fireplace for the next year. So, with that, here is the Summer 2015 collection:

Senior Gift

Well, we know it's a bit early, but Noah was able to find the senior gift that he feels he would get the most out of. Base package starts at $55,000. Wish he wasn't sitting it in.

#FAHSXC15

Team! Run hard tonight under the lights! All the high altitude training you do should help at a sea level race.

Look!!

A dolphin!! In the Pacific Ocean!! Seems like the XC trip to Orange County is going fairly "swimmingly."  Great group picture on the boat too. And a little bit of Titanic thrown in for good measure.

California Dreamin'

Just a man, alone with his thoughts, listening to the Pacific Ocean.

And following it up with a pasta and octopus dinner at a swanky seafood place on the pier.

Chalk-A-Lot

Pretty big week for our little town, as it was announced that we have surpassed the 100,000 person population. On Saturday, we attempted to enter the Guniness Book of World Records with the "longest continuous chalk drawing." Hence, the 2015 Chalk-A-Lot. Jen, Nathanael, Andrew and I attempted to completely fill in 2 6'x6' squares. It was a lot tougher then it sounds. But we did it! We joined Coach Wood and his wife and new baby who were working on their own squares. At 630 that evening, it was announced we had completed the goal and set the record: 3.2 miles. That's a lot of chalk. The last picture is the view from a drone that flew over in order to capture the record!

Liberty Bell

While I was manning the campsite in Greeley, Jen was making her way to Heritage High School and the Liberty Bell Classic to cheer on the cross-country team. Noah had another solid meet, and continues to amaze at the strong finishes he is able to close with. He passed 7 kids in the final 100 yards or so. Off to Compton next week!

Campout

For her birthday party, sister decided she would like to have a camp out in the backyard! So we set up the big tent, made some pancakes and bacon for dinner with her friends, and had a fire pit. We even had a birthday cake and a pintata for good measure. Her friends were so thoughtful with their gifts. The group was already awake at 630 Saturday morning when I stopped by with bagels and cream cheese. Happy birthday sis. Enjoy 11!
