I have been serving on the Habitat for Humanity selection committee for a few years now. We meet once a month to review applications, discuss where families are in the process, and make home visits to get to know the family better. We then interview the family at our committee meeting before making a recommendation to the Board. At the end of the process there is a house blessing where the family gets the keys to their new home. I was able to attend a blessing of a family that works at YFC with Than and Ruthie, and a man who has become a good friend. It was a powerful ceremony, and I might have shed a few tears.
