While I missed the book goal in 2023, one goal I did accomplish was attending a live concert of some kind each month. The winter months were a little thin, while summer was filled with music, dancing, memories and friends. A few groups made the list twice (The GPO and Bumpin Uglies), several were first time shows (Ice Cube and George Strait), and a few were favorites (Michael Franti and Eric Church). One notable artist missing from the list is Dave Matthews. As has become his routine, Colorado only gets shows from the band every other year. Already looking forward to quite a few shows planned for in 2024. Here’s the 2023 concert recap!
Started the year seeing Violet Visionaries at the Moxi in Greeley, CO. Sadly, it turned out to be the only show of theirs we would catch all year.
February was a trip to Ft. Collins to see Phoffman from Greensky Bluegrass perform a solo acoustic show at Washington’s.
Bumpin’ Uglies made their first of two appearances in Ft. Collins at the Aggie in March. Couldn’t find anyone to take the second ticket for a Wednesday show, so went solo and still had fun.
It was a good day to have a good day, when Ice Cube made his first ever appearance in Wyoming. Paul and I made the trip north in April to see him at the Lincoln.
May was an impressive performance by the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra at the UCCC in Greeley, CO. After this performance, we decided we would become season ticket holders for the 2023-24 season in support of the new Executive Director and my friend Ben Barnhart.
Kicked off the summer concert season in June with the annual pilgrimage to Red Rocks with Wood to see Michael Franti. Is there a more magical place on earth?
