Well, after months of preparations, practice, fundraising and nervousness, the big day had finally arrived: Dancing with the Weld County Stars! My partner Ayn and I felt pretty good about our routine: 70’s disco based on the dance from Napoleon Dynamite. We had been practicing at least once a week since late March, and twice a week the final two weeks leading up to the competition. And pretty stiff competition it was: the superintendent of District 6, Greeley Hat Works owner Trent Johnson, a semi-professional ballroom dancer and fundraiser, my friend Paul, a wealthy widow and a lady from North Range Behavioral Health. And me. To say I was nervous was an understatement. So I arrived early for my 15 minute practice slot, ate some pizza and tried to calm my nerves!
