Laramie-Monday

We made the trek home on Monday to make sure everything was in place and ready to go for the service on Tuesday. After several “business” stops, we were welcomed into the beautiful home of Lois and Gary Crum. It was so nice to share a meal with the family that was in town. We ended the evening at the hotel bar with the Luhm brothers and their families, and half of our kids.

Gathering

People are beginning to make the trek to Wyoming via Colorado this weekend. Yesterday we welcomed the Portland kids and Emily, who happened to bump into Althea on her connecting flight through DIA. Jim and Janet arrived this morning just in time to celebrate Mother’s Day. It’s good to have everyone here and we continue to both mourn and celebrate mom.

Casino Night

After 7 months of planning, the annual Casino Night for the senior class at Frontier went off without a hitch last night. Jennifer was instrumental in the planning, organizing, setting up, and execution. Even though it wasn’t her “class”, Sarabeth attended, won a few prizes, and had a good time. Hard to believe this is the last one we will be apart of.

4BR

Decided to put my toe back in the networking water on Monday night with our quarterly 4BR social. I was glad my friend Paul could join me at Mash Lab. We had a great turnout from our group, about 7 of us. I was able to meet a few new people, connect with the regional director, and take a mental break from funeral preparations.

Play

Sister wrapped up her high school drama career over the weekend with “Susicial.” She once again managed the tech side of the production. The school is really going to miss that girl next year, that’s for sure. I’m glad Jen could be there for closing night, while I was sitting with mom one last time.

Trevor Hall

And all of a sudden, its summer concert season. The gang made the first pilgrimage of 2022 to Red Rocks last week to see Trevor Hall. I would say it was average at best. The vibe just wasn’t there, to be honest. We got to the show late, and didn’t have much time to tailgate. Had to take a taxi to the top (which turned out to be almost the highlight of the night). Trevor didn’t take the stage until 10. Took 2 hours to get home. My mind was mostly with mom and our meeting with hospice the day before. So overall for a trip to my favorite place on earth, I’d give the evening a 3/10.

Mom

Mom passed away peacefully on Sunday night, May 1, 2022 at LifeCare Center of Greeley. She had been there since her fall on March 13. We are planning to have her service next Tuesday in Laramie. More details and information to follow. A full obituary will be published this weekend.

The sadness and profound sense of loss is beginning to set in. There is also relief that she has escaped her broken body and is now with her Lord and Savior. I love you mom. Thank you for being my biggest supporter, cheerleader and encourager. Thank you for creating a legacy that will last generations. Thank you for the life you poured into Wes and I, your grandkids, and your daughters-in-law. I’m so thankful for the two years you spent with us here in Greeley. Rest In Peace.

Easter 2022

We had the privilege of hosting Easter dinner this past week. I have to be honest, it was probably one of the worst ever? We just missed mom. And it just wasn’t the same knowing she was across town, alone, and in pain.

But Jen did a great job as always. Plenty of food for everyone, the Traeger prime rib roast turned out perfect, and we even were able to end the night with cigars and whiskey.

Happy 21st to this beautiful young woman! We are so grateful to have you in our sons life. Don’t forget to drink lots of water.

GMM-Weldwerks Edition

We hosted another successful Mob Mixer on Wednesday at the Weldwerks. For a change we didn’t have snow on a Wednesday. There was a great turnout for our event, probably 25-30 people? It’s fun to see about 10 new people attend each month. We also had a reporter for the Greeley Tribune and her photographer show up to do a story on us, which was published today. BRIX is next in May!
