Seems like it was just 14 years ago today....actually it was. Happy birthday Little D! We are so blessed to have you in our family. I love your giggle, your frugalness, your servants heart toward others. It was fun having your 7 friends over for a sleepover last night. It was funny how quiet everyone downstairs got when you heard I was awake at 3:40 this morning and on my way to work. Don't think that I didn't hear you! I pray this year will be amazing and wonderful and full of growth and memorable. I love you son. 

Work

Picked up a few award this week from the route. Been going well on one side, while we have been struggling on the other half since Safeway closed over Memorial Day. Nice to see that all those 3:30 AM wake-up calls and dealing with grumpy, pissed off grocery managers pays off sometimes. Oh, and I get health insurance again next year. So there's that. 

Wiggins

Noah finished up his cross country season on Saturday at the Wiggins meet. He ran solid once again, finishing the course in 21:25. Time to take a few weeks off, before winter training begins in November. Nice season son. It was a joy to watch you compete. 

Date

While Jim and Janet were in town last weekend, something weird happened: my favorite graduate student and I found a few minutes to go on a date! We tried out the tapas bar/lounge attached to the Ft. Collins brewery. It was pretty good food and just enough to fill us up. We then ventured downtown and arrived at The Mayor of Old Town. Over 100 Colorado beers on tap. I finally got to try the salted Belgium stout from New Belgium. Jen tried several new beers too. Fun night. 

Molly Brown

I had the privilege on Thursday of traveling to Denver with Sarabeth's class for a performance of "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. It was a great play, and one that neither sister nor I had seen before. After the play, the cast came back on stage for a quick Q&A. Sarabeth of course had the first question. 

We made a quick stop at VooDoo Donuts on the way home. I enjoyed my customary maple blazer blunt. They are so yummy. Also, I can say things like "the blunt is mine" and "I had two blunts on the way to work today."   

Homecoming 2014

Noah is busy, busy, busy! After competing in his XC meet Saturday morning in Stearling (pictures forthcoming once Miss Jennifer sends them to me from her iPhone) Noah and 4 of his friends reddied themselves for Homecoming at our house. Then it was time for pictures at Glenmere Park with the girls! Quite a group of kids they are. Noah's date was quite beautiful, and they matched very well. They were the only couple in the group of 8 that went to dinner at Old Chicago then the dance. Whew, quite a weekend at the Roth household!  

Sonic Run

Nathanael finished up his fall sports season yesterday with the annual Sonic Run. For the final practice of the year, Coach Wood has the team run up the big hill towards Sonic, buy a shake or ice cream or drinks, and walk back to school while discussing the season. Very proud of Nathanael for competing this season and finishing strong! On to winter training! 

Champions

As fall sports seasons come to a close, champions will be crowned. Andrew was very busy this fall managing the middle school boys soccer team for the third year in a row. And on Friday, they won their final game and thus the championship for their division. Congrats to all the boys and Coach Shepard for the great season. And nice work Andrew, keeping the boys hydrated. 

Spirit Week

Hard to believe, but it's already Spirit/Homecomming week at Frontier. Jen and I hanged locker decorations for the XC team on Sunday night so the team would see them first thing Monday. Noah dressed like a flag on Monday for clash day. Note the new shoes he bought in Minnesota. Tuesday was twin day that I didn't get any pictures of. Today was superhero day. Andrew wore his Superman onesie. Noah was Jesus. Today was also the annual Taste of Frontier. Nutritional guidelines are pretty much are out the window. Tomorrow is Spirit Day! 

Fire

Enjoyed what might turn out to be one of the last fire pits of the summer over the weekend. Nothing brings the kids out faster then a GREAT BIG FIRE! Thanks to grandpa Roth for the incredible firewood. The stuff burns like nothing else. And if the fire got too out of control, the kids had those small drinks from Kum and Go to dump on it. 

Minnesota

The fall trip for the Frontier XC team was Minnesota this year. They had a successful trip, competing against some of the top teams in the country. Noah was solid again, posting a 22:35. The team enjoyed a trip to the Mall of America, several nice meals out, a beautiful training run on Friday night and a campus tour of the U of Minnesota.
