It was a rough night last night, both literally and figuratively. The campfire folks were yelling and hollering until almost 2 AM. The ground was a bit rough. And it got cold.

But all that's behind us now and we prepare to set off on the days adventure.

So instead of staying in a nice hotel with soft beds and showers, we are camping. With no showers. And only a Therma-Rest to soften the hard ground. Oh well. At least we saved like $300. And we have the comfort of knowing one of the pine bark beetle damaged trees could fall on us at any moment.

What a beautiful night in Winter Park. Andrew sort of looks emo with all his wrist bands. Still 45 minutes until dinner is served. Hope we remember to ride bikes tomorrow.

Winter Park

We have arrived and found an adult beverage to enjoy while waiting for dinner at 6. The weather is much better up here than it was in Greeley today. Its about 70 with a breeze. Greeley was almost 100 today. And tomorrow.

Fat Tire Classic 2010

We are off for some more fun! This weekend it is the 2010 Fat Tire Classic in Winter Park, CO. I think this is my 6th Fat Tire. Andrew and I will be camping and riding about 30-35 miles each day this weekend. It is a fundraiser for the Mile High Chapter of the American Red Cross. Wish us luck!

Beers

So we made it home last night after spending almost 2 hours at the Chilis in Cheyenne with Grandma and Grandpa Roth. Thankfully it was buy one, get one free Fat Tire. And after 4 days and 1052 miles, it tasted very good.

Sarabeth will be spending the next 5 days in Laramie while I'm in Winter Park and Jen holds down the fort with the 3 boys.

Tower

We made it to Devils Tower and got another stamp in our National Parks Passport! We tried a short hike, but weren't as prepared as we should have been. We were, however, very prepared for BOTH gift shops we stopped at. Now its time for the long drive back to Colorado.

Reading

Thanks to Grandpa Roth, the kids have some good reading material about Devils Tower to look at before we arrive. We are less than 15 miles away, and no barb wire barricades or dead livestock.

Coffee

As many readers know, I love coffee. Love it. Lots. And I may have finally found a coffee shop that gives my beloved Coal Creek a run for its money. This is Sturgis Coffee Company (www.sturgiscoffeecompany.com). Amazing store. Great coffee. Friendly and helpful employees. We are bringing home 2 pounds to enjoy in Colorado.

Sturgis Sights

To finish up the day, we took a quick drive around Sturgis. This place is going to be a wee bit busier in a few weeks. For tonight though, it was a beautiful, peaceful evening. We "cruised" Main Street. Saw where the web-cam is. Took a drive outside of town and saw the Full-Throttle Saloon (as seen on TRU-TV). Finally saw the WORLD FAMOUS Buffalo Chip. Acts appearing there in a few weeks include: Ozzy Osborn, Scorpions, Bob Dylan, and THE Pee-Wee Herman (????).
