First Supper

Finally, after two crazy weeks, we are moved into our new home. We had our first sit down dinner with just the 6 of us last night. So thankful for a bigger place that is a wee bit closer to Ft. Collins and Frontier High School.

Brothers

I love that guy. Best brother I could have ever asked for. Thanks Wes for your help this week. Kaleb is a very lucky little guy to have you for a father.

Dinner

Enjoying a nice break after dinner and a hard day of moving. It was so great to spend two days with my dad and my brother. Someday instead of working like dogs when we get together, we should use my Broncos tickets and go to a game.

Break

Grandpa and Sarabeth taking a break from moving in the shade of the moving truck. They were looking at clouds and imagining they were different shapes. Too bad it was a cloudless day and 93 degrees.

Folks!

Mom was in the state Tuesday for an appointment so I got to have a nice lunch with them at Sanfords. It was so great to visit with them for over an hour while we ate. Still praying for mom and her health to improve. Your prayers for her are always appreciated.

7th Grade

Summer vacation is officially over for two members of the Roth family. Jen started last Tuesday with four days of staff development and Noah started 7th grade today. Wow, where does the time go? The girl he is seated next to is his girlfriend of almost a year. Guess we don't use desks at Frontier.

Funkworks

At brewery number three!! Gosh, that's a lot of glasses at our table. Currently enjoying the Chardonnay Barrel Blonde on the Flight 2 tour.

Odells

One down, five to go...not very crowded today at Odells. Didn't even wait in line. Winning!

New Belgium!

Taking a packing/moving break this afternoon with friends in Ft. Collins. We will be making the brewery loop today, trying to visit three or four different ones. Wish us luck! We start at New Belgium....

Yellowstone-Hike

We enjoyed another quick breakfast Wednesday morning so we could start the days activities a bit earlier. Our boat guide had recommended the Elephant Back Trail so we loaded up the Camelbacks and set off! It was a nice two mile loop that took us about 90 minutes. Thankfully no wildlife on the trail, and very few other hikers.

Yellowstone-Lake

Tuesday night was a real treat as we were able to take an hour long sunset boat cruise around Yellowstone Lake. The tour guide showed us several of the original buildings that are still standing, the small island in the middle of the lake, told several stories of the many characters from Yellowstone's early days, and answered several of the kids questions. The lake was almost the highest it has ever been, as you can see from the black mark on the bridge. The road that runs alongside the lake was also underwater.

Yellowstone-Canyon

We made several stops and several hikes around the Canyon area the rest of the morning. Everyone was amazed at the canyon, the falls and the incredible scenery. The steep hikes were a bit of a challenge, but the group powered through it and were rewarded with some amazing views and some great pictures! Things were already getting crowded, so we grabbed lunch at Canyon, then drove to Tower and back over the pass hoping to spot some wildlife. Sadly were struck out. So it was back to camp as several thunderstorms rolled through the campground. Dad managed to get dinner cooked between storms, and we ate in the camper. We enjoyed a simple meal of hamburgers and home made cheese fries over the fire.

Yellowstone-Tuesday Morning

Thankful there were no bear sightings in the campground overnight, so everyone was well rested for a busy Tuesday in the park. We wanted to get an earlier start, so it was just muffins, cereal, coffee and juice for breakfast. We headed north again, through Fishing Bridge and onwards towards Canyon.

The first stop of the day was a quick walk through another set of mud paint pots. There were LOTS of buffalo lounging around the hot, steamy thermal areas. We found out later from a ranger that the buffalo would rather be hot then bitten by bugs, so that's why they choose to stay around the thermal features. It was a great first stop of the day: still cool, not crowded, and a good walk to get the blood flowing.

Yellowstone-Monday Night

On the way back to our campsite, we ran into our first of many world famous Yellowstone traffic jams. There was a line of 30 cars slowing down and stopping for....a single buffalo. We stopped at Isa Lake, which sits on the Continental Divide. Some of the water in it flows to the Pacific, and some to the Gulf of Mexico. Pretty neat stuff. Also spotted an elk having his dinner!

When we finally returned to Bridge Bay, it was an amazing dinner of shrimp linguine, garlic bread, and smores by the fire for dessert. The kids made quite a few new friends in the campground, so it seemed there was always a game of soccer or football or keep-a-way going on. Also enjoyed a cold Fat Tire and several of Grandma Roth's no bakes. It was a good day.
