For me personally, the month was dominated by a huge decision with my professional life. I know I don't talk about work much here anymore, mostly because it's all the same, day after day. All that changed at the end of June with Frito dropped a bombshell: they would be getting rid of my route in Greeley. In fact, they were getting rid of all grocery store routes in the Ft. Collins area and replacing be with a $16 an hour person. My choices were to either bid on a small format route based in Ft. Collins or take a severance package and leave the company in November.
It was an awful decision to have to make. Stay? Leave and begin a new adventure somewhere else? I didn't realize how much the decision was weighing on me until after I decided on July 14. There was a dramatic change in an opprotunity during bidding, and I decided to continue my career at Frito.
So, beginning November 2, I will return to a daily commute to Ft. Collins, picking up my little frito truck, and delivering to small grocery and convenience stores in Loveland/Ft. Collins/Windsor. My days off will be Friday and Saturday finally for the first time in 15 years!
Whew. Thanks for reading all that. Onto more fun blogging.
