Happy Thanksgiving from Glenwood Springs, Colorado! The Roth family is together again. Wesley arrived from South Dakota Tuesday night and Grandma and Grandpa arrived from Wyoming a few minutes later. We made it to Union Station in Denver to hop on an Amtrak train for a six hour ride to Glenwood Springs. The train was great. Plenty of room to spread out, cheap snacks, plug ins for laptops and dvd players, and Blackberry service. Can't have that on an airplane! We had lunch on the dining car. Andrew spotted 3 bald eagles! We will be staying here through Saturday. Keep checking back to Campingdad for more updates throughout the weekend!

Broncos
I was fortunate enough to get Denver Broncos tickets on Sunday. Jennifer's boss at Kohls was able to attend with me. Our seats were located on the 35 yard line in the fifth deck. We were actually 5 rows from the very top. It was going to be an easy Broncos win over the hated Raiders. However, the Broncos evidently didn't know that. They were drubbed at home 31-10. Ouch. We did have a good time at Mile High, despite the outcome of the game.

Vacation
It has been nice to have a week off this week. Haven't had much planned, just some reading, coffee drinking, hanging out with the kids, and a quick trip to Laramie today to see mom and dad. I did finish two books this week: Jason Elam's "Monday Night Jihad" and Annie Proulx's "Fine Just the Way It Is." Here are a few photos from the wild and crazy week that it has been here.

Noah
Here are a few of the pictures from the big sleepover 10th birthday party last weekend. Noah invited three of his friends from school to celebrate. We had Little Caesars pizza for dinner once again. Jen took all of them to see "Madagascar 2," followed by several hours of video game playing. I do know they were all still awake at 4:15 when I left for work. Crazy kids.

Veteran's Day
It is always sobering to take a moment today and remember the service men and women who have served, and are serving this great country of ours. It is because of their sacrifice that we are able to enjoy the many remarkable freedoms and choices available to us today. My grandfather served in World War 2 on the European front. He served in the 90th Division based out of Camp Barkeley, TX. Grandpa was one of the many servicemen to pass through Normandy Beach at D+3. He then traveled through France and finally to Germany. After the war, he returned to South Dakota with my grandmother and carried on with his life. Grandpa passed away in 2000, at the age of 82.
Thank you for your service to our country grandpa. Thank you also to the many service men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Please say a special prayer for those who are in harms way tonight, protecting our freedom, and keeping us safe. May the Lord's protection rest upon you, and keep you safe.

AWANA
It has been such a joy this year to introduce the kids to AWANA (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed.) This is based on 2 Timothy 2:15 for those of you scoring at home. All four kids get to go every Wednesday night. The weekly meeting consists of game time, council time, and workbook time, where the kids memorize scripture and learn about the Word of God. All of them have been having a blast this year, except for Little Andrew from time to time. He doesn't like the game time as much because "you have to run and you get sweaty and stuff." Here are a few pics from tonight after AWANA.
Candy
We were not originally planning a trick-or-treating, but at the last minute three of the kids decided they wanted to. So Sarabeth put on a pretty princess dress, Andrew borrowed my Rockies jersey and went as a Rockies fan, and grandpa gave Nathanael a hat and a golf club and went as a golfer. We pounded out 90 minutes of trick-or-treating, and got three bucket fulls of candy. It was great to walk around in short sleeves. Usually it is cold, snowing and 30 MPH winds.

Halloween 1
No, this isn't a review of the Halloween movies. Just several post on the big holiday. All four kids had parties at school. Halloween night we all traveled to grandma and grandpa's for pizza, trick-or-treating, movies, and a sleep over. It was a beautiful night for walking the neighborhoods. I can't actually remember a Halloween night we were able to trick-or-treat in short sleves. To begin, here is Nathanael's party and one of Sarabeth and several of her classmates. I think there is a cookie under all those toppings somewhere.
