OUCH!

It’s never a good sign when a child calls you at a time when the child shouldn’t be calling you. But that’s what happened on Thursday morning at 930 when Nathanael called me. I couldn’t answer, and 3 minutes later Jen called. Couldn’t answer that either. Then I got the “call me 911” text.

While at work that morning, Nathanael absolutely crushed the tip of his left middle finger with a mallet. So him, Jen and Ruthie spent the day first at the Urgent Care for work related injuries, then the ER. Still waiting to see what the possible permanent damage might be. He’s been quite a trooper, and is a lot tougher then his dad.

47

Happy birthday, babe! I hope you enjoyed the beautiful evening out on the town last night with our friends (and you won a CD!), and breakfast with the kids today. You are pretty amazing and I love you very much.

Trunk or Treat

Attended/helped with several Trunk or Treat events this week leading up to Halloween. Jen and her LULAC Club had a trunk at Frontier that was very well attended. ALLO participated in the annual Greeley downtown Trick or Treat Street. I think we had almost 2000 kids walk past the store front. Thanks to the rest of my ALLO team for sticking around and running the table!

Sadness

Although the pain, sadness, and emptiness of losing both my parents at such a young age (40 and 45 for me, they were each 69), will always be there, the grief has slowed to smaller waves that crash over me at longer intervals. It will be an emotional holiday season, as this will be the first without both of them. Fall is an especially rough season, as it was just 10 years ago yesterday that I had my first cancer surgery. Their support during that period was indescribable. I miss each of them everyday.

Made a quick trip back to their “neighborhood” a few weeks ago. It was beautiful and peaceful. The tree is healthy. Grass has filled back in. I love you mom. I love you dad.

PDX-SBX Mid-October

Sister continues to adjust to the great Pacific Northwest. The true challenge begins when the sun disappears in the coming weeks and its dark and gloomy. Until then, she is doing well. Started a new job at a local bank as a teller. Made more friends. And went on a DATE!

Rotary- TightKnit

Our Rotary club had the privilege of taking the party to Evans on Wednesday to visit our good friend Tommy and his new production facility for TightKnit. I’ve been enjoying being on the membership committee this year. It’s been a welcome change from scheduling the speakers and locations for the past 2 years. Lot’s of planning to get done before the holiday party (which sadly falls on the same night as the Mob Mixer holiday party. Decisions will have to be made).

Bumpin’

Finally got to use the concert tickets I bought almost a year ago. The Bumpin’ Uglies were scheduled to play the Moxi in March, but had to postpone due to Covid. It might have been one of the last shows that was affected by that silly virus. So Sunday night we made our way downtown for the show. Sadly no set list has been posted. And sadder still, they changed up the encore and didn’t play “Morning After.” Still a fun night.

ALLO- First Event

My teammate and I traveled to Erie on Monday for the official groundbreaking for ALLO. We spent the morning walking around the downtown and passing out goodie bags to local businesses and introducing ourselves. Our storefront will open by the end of the year, and fiber has already started.

We then ventured over to a beautiful local park to set up for the groundbreaking. Our ALLO team was joined by the Mayor, several city council people, members of the Chamber, and community members. We couldn’t have picked a more beautiful Colorado afternoon!

TTN-NoCo & Longmont

Look! More people standing around and networking! Had two more successful TableTops this week. I did say goodbye to the Longmont chapter since ALLO won’t be serving that area for the foreseeable future. It will be nice to just focus on the NoCo chapter once a month. I also need a new vest apparently. Hopefully the ALLO swag arrives soon!

Mobbing!

Another successful Greeley Mob Mixer is in the books! Thanks to Wiley Roots for hosting our rowdy group of networkers on the patio. It was fun. Always nice to see all the Mobbers!

PDX-SBX October

Sister seems to be alive and well in the PDX. Here are a few recent pictures from BeReal that she shared. I’m glad she has found a friend in the dining hall and is figuring out the commute. She starts her new job at the bank this week!

ALLO

Well, after 6 years on the advisor side of the business with multiple firms, I have decided to move on. The last 6 years have provided an incredible opportunity to serve a variety of individuals, families and small business owners throughout Northern Colorado. I wouldn’t be the man that I am today without the experiences of the past several years. I am forever grateful that I decided to take the leap from Frito into the world of business in the Greeley community.

I have taken my talents to ALLO Fiber as their PR and Events director in Colorado. I will be in charge of planning and executing a wide variety of events in 6 communities along the Front Range. Here’s the team from Nebraska I will be working with. They were all in town last week for planning for 2023. I was able to schedule a few team building activities including a trip to Stella’s and the Hatchet House.
